MAGNOLIA GALLISONENSIS

Magnolia gallisonensis is a deciduous magnolia of great beauty, native to China, which stands out for its elegance and spectacular flowering. This medium-sized tree is particularly appreciated for its slender shape and relatively fast growth, which makes it ideal for large gardens or larger green areas. The flowering, which occurs from the end of spring, is the real jewel in the crown of this variety. The large, cup-shaped flowers are pure, creamy white, with a slight pink tone at the base of the petals. They open before the leaves appear, creating a spectacular contrast with the bare branch and highlighting the delicate and refined beauty of the plant. The scent of the flowers is subtle but enveloping, adding an olfactory dimension to the already valuable flowering. The large, glossy leaves are a dark, vibrant green, and help give the plant a majestic appearance during the growing season. In autumn, the leaves turn golden and yellow, continuing to offer aesthetic interest even outside the flowering season. Magnolia gallisonensis grows with an erect posture and a broad, well-balanced crown, reaching heights of between 6 and 10 metres. The plant prefers acidic, fresh, well-drained soil, with exposure to the sun or light shade. Although it is quite resistant to low temperatures, it appreciates temperate, humid climates, and it is important to ensure good irrigation during periods of intense heat. Once well established, it is relatively drought tolerant, but rich, well-aerated soil is recommended for optimum growth.
