BUDDLEJA DAVIDII “BUTTERFLY CANDY LITTLE” PINK

Plant code: BUD-CLP

Buddleja is an evergreen shrub with slightly arching branches, known for its rapid growth and compact, resilient structure, capable of withstanding even harsh temperatures. Its flowers release a sweet fragrance reminiscent of honey and vanilla, attracting numerous butterflies — hence its common name “butterfly bush.”

Originally from China, Buddleja was introduced to Europe in 1893 and quickly spread thanks to its exceptional adaptability to various soil types, with a preference for calcareous soils. This is a small, round-shaped plant that does not exceed 80 cm in height. This variety develops very branched vegetation with short upright shoots, offering a well-balanced structure.

The ideal time for planting is in autumn. It requires little care, making it a low-maintenance plant; however, it is essential to plant it in well-drained soil, where water does not stagnate, and in a sunny position. Buddleja appreciates water especially during flowering, but suffers from stagnant humidity, particularly in colder months.

It is a deciduous species, very hardy and generous in blooming. Its lance-shaped leaves are medium to dark green, with a silvery underside, giving the plant a slightly shimmering appearance. With proper care, it develops a rounded shape with arching branches. Flowering occurs on new growth from summer onwards, producing intensely fragrant flowers.
