MAGNOLIA SOULANGEANA

Plant code: MAG-SOU

Magnolia soulangeana is one of the most popular and appreciated varieties of magnolia for its impressive spring flowering and majestic appearance. This deciduous tree, which reaches heights of between 4 and 6 metres, is particularly suitable for large gardens or for use as a solitary plant, where it can express all its beauty. Its elegant appearance and well-balanced shape make it a visually striking element. The flowering of Magnolia soulangeana is spectacular, with large cup-shaped flowers that bloom before the leaves appear, creating an extraordinary contrast. The flowers, which open in spring, are a pinkish-white or light pink on the outside, with a darker heart, often tinged with purple. Their size and exuberant shape make them one of the main attractions for gardens and parks during the flowering season. The foliage, which is an intense green during the growing season, helps to give the plant a dense and rich appearance. In autumn, the leaves turn yellow-gold, extending the visual interest even beyond the flowering. Magnolia soulangeana is appreciated for its ability to maintain a tidy and well-formed crown, which develops in an expansive but compact way. This magnolia prefers fresh, well-drained and slightly acidic soils, and is best suited to positions in full sun or light shade. Although it tolerates some exposure to the cold, it is more suited to temperate climates. It is recommended to maintain regular watering during the hottest periods to ensure optimal growth. Its resistance and the beauty of its flowering make it ideal for decorative gardens, tree-lined avenues and valuable landscape areas.
