CORDYLINE AUSTRALIS “RED STAR”
Cordyline australis ‘Red Star’ is a perennial species native to New Zealand, belonging to the Asparagaceae family. It is an evergreen plant with a strong bearing, which over time develops an erect stem, capable of reaching heights of between 2 and 3 meters. Its leaves, thin and elongated with a lanceolate shape, are purple-red with light green shades. Initially straight, they tend to curve towards the end, creating a very elegant ornamental effect. During the summer season it produces branched panicle inflorescences, composed of numerous small cream-colored flowers, known for their intense fragrance. Appreciated for the decorative appearance of its foliage, Red Star is often used both as a furnishing element for indoor environments and outdoors, in gardens and flowerbeds, thanks to its good tolerance to low temperatures, as long as they do not fall below zero. It prefers mild climates and sunny positions, although it can also adapt well to areas with partial exposure. Furthermore, it also proves suitable for coastal areas, thanks to its resistance to saltiness.
